About Control Shift

Control Shift is a blog produced by creative thinkers at AOL. We cover the disciplines of creative direction, user interface design, information and visual design, project management, web technologies, quality assurance, photography and photo publishing. We are a diverse and amazing crew literally spanning the globe.

Each month we oversee the creation of experiences for million of loyal users, and generate billions of pageviews for the AOL network. We do our best, we breathe experience design... and yet...

And yet the notion that design is alive and well at AOL is a message that is sometimes obscured in the flurry of media covering matters more related to the corporation at large. Critical matters, certainly, but there is so much more going on we're excited to let you in on. Stuff you just may not find any other way, in fact.

So, in this blog you'll learn more about us, what we've learned, what makes us tick, and see more clearly the range and depth of our work. There are lessons (sometimes of the hard kind), observations and musings from a range of bloggers I am privileged to call my associates and friends.

That said, we also admire and respect what our peers outside are accomplishing in moving the digital world forward. There is truly killer delicious work constantly appearing every week we'd like to share some of it with you and give them props. Games, film, theater, products: experience design permeates EVERYTHING so it is all fair game. These outside influences inspire us and feed our ambitions to be among the best.
